I feel the xtu vibe coming through on this track!
Nice chops and control over the feel, its hard to fill up 6 mins unless you are seriously jamming while producing.
The layering of mid-eq samples is nice.
Great job, Cam. love how you retained the original sample; I, myself, had a hard time using any of the original sounds in my mix, so I’m impressed that you were able to make something so tight without too much deconstruction (at least not as much as me). Big fan of how it progresses. Seemingly repetitive, but highly progressive and in interesting ways. Interested to hear how you develop this track for a release. The layering of the bass and that “bounce” sample goes hard.
I really enjoy the depth of the layers. Greats space created and utilized. Wide stereo sound and lots of fun. Its a long track that explore the sample in quite a few directions! I can hear the time you took with it. I really tried to do tonal stuff like you did at 4:45ish, but I couldn’t really pull it off – great stuff Cam! Microsamples and reverb at the end is really neat.
Nice use of the samples without warping them too far beyond recognition. I particularly like how you used the staccato strings in the end. I think they could have been introduced sooner, even. I also felt like the “bounce” voice is a bit grating after a while, could use some more variation in that. Really cool how you got a vocoder effect in there, that’s a neat idea!
